commitments

“Tokmanni Group is committed to several international declarations and agreements.”

Among these, the most important are mentioned here.

Sirpa Huuskonen, Chief People, Culture and Sustainability Officer, Tokmanni Group

United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals

At Tokmanni Group, we are committed to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) in our business. These goals aim to guide the UN member states’ operations until 2030. In 2019, we identified the nine most important goals for our work and our stakeholders. In addition, in 2020, we prioritised three goals from the perspective of Tokmanni’s operations: SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth; SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production; and SDG 13: Climate Action.

United Nations Global Compact initiative

UN Global Compact is an initiative in which companies commit to operate according to ten principles related to human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption.

United Nations Declaration of Human Rights and Convention on the Rights of the Child

The main goal of the Convention on the Rights of the Child is to ensure that every child has the basic conditions of life and a safe environment to grow up. The Convention includes an obligation to ensure care and attention, appropriate health care and education. The content of the Convention focuses on non-discrimination, consideration of the best interests of the child, the right to life and development, and respect for the child’s views in matters affecting them. The most important thing is to guarantee every child the opportunity to be a child.

ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work

International Labour Organization (ILO) promotes social justice and human rights at work, and improves the status and working conditions of workers around the world. It also develops international labour standards. The ILO has defined fundamental rights at work, which serve as the basis for international labour standards. These fundamental rights are the right to organise, the prohibition of forced labour, the prohibition of child labour and the prohibition of discrimination.

Science-based climate work according to the Science Based Targets initiative

Science Based Targets initiative utilises a scientific calculation method to ensure that the targets set by businesses are in line with the targets approved in the Paris Climate Agreement. The SBTi is a joint collaboration between CDP (the Carbon Disclosure Project), the UN Global Compact, WRI (World Resources Institute) and WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature).

amfori Code of Conduct

The principles set out in the amfori BSCI Code of Conduct represent the aspirational goals and minimum expectations that amfori BSCI Participants have with regard to their supply chains’ social conduct.
