On 7 April 2021, Tokmanni Oy, the largest general discount retailer in Finland, signed an agreement with SSA Project Oy on the construction of a new retail building in the centre of Leppävirta, at the address Kartanontie 8, Leppävirta.
The new retail building will have a floor area of about 2,900 square metres and, once completed, it will replace the current Tokmanni store that has a floor area of around 700 square metres. Tokmanni is ready to open the new and versatile store in Leppävirta by the end of 2021, provided the necessary official permits are obtained.
“We are very happy to announce the construction and opening of a new and versatile Tokmanni store in the centre of Leppävirta. The new Tokmanni’s floor area will be about four times larger than current store’s, which will allow us to increase our selections considerably compared to the current store. The new Tokmanni store will employ about 15 people once it is completed,” says Harri Koponen, Store Network and Concept Director at Tokmanni Oy.
Tokmanni will offer customers in the Leppävirta area a wide and attractive assortment of beauty, health and wellbeing, interior decoration, cleaning, clothing, leisure, home electronics, home renovation and seasonal products as well as non-perishable foods at low prices. The store’s selections will also have a strong focus on garden and yard products.
“We are really pleased with Tokmanni’s new store investment. It will develop commercial services in our municipality considerably,” says Matti Raatikainen, Mayor of the Municipality of Leppävirta.
The new retail property has been developed by SSA Project Oy.
“Our common goal has been to launch the project as soon as possible, and in fact the preparations for the project have taken off well. It has been a pleasure to work on the project with real professionals,” says Joni Alatyppö, Project Director at SSA.
The design of the building will pay special attention to energy efficiency. The store will be lit using energy-efficient LED lights and a solar power plant consisting of hundreds of solar panels will be installed on the store’s roof.
