The opening of Tokmanni’s first new EUROSPAR supermarket of the year will be celebrated under the same roof as a Tokmanni store in Järvenpää in March–April. Together, the Tokmanni store and the EUROSPAR supermarket will form a highly diverse Tokmanni–EUROSPAR store entity in terms of product range. The photo above is from the Tokmanni-EUROSPAR store entity in Ylöjärvi, where similar store celebrations took place in June 2025.
Tokmanni, which started as the license holder for SPAR in Finland last year, is continuing the renewal of its food departments selling fresh food to align them with the international SPAR grocery concept. In Tokmanni’s leadership, the EUROSPAR supermarket with its diverse selection of groceries will next be opened under the same roof as a Tokmanni store in Järvenpää in March–April. Later in the spring, the renewal of the food departments to embrace the SPAR concept will begin at Tokmanni stores in Raatekangas in Joensuu, Vanhakylä (Gammelby) in Loviisa, and Iisalmi. The variety discount retailer opened its first EUROSPAR supermarkets in connection with its Tokmanni stores in Ylöjärvi, Masku and Tornio last year. In addition, more than 130 SPAR products are now available in every one of the more than 200 Tokmanni stores. SPAR products are also widely available in Tokmanni’s online store.
Preparatory work regarding the concept of this year’s first EUROSPAR supermarket began at the Tokmanni store in Järvenpää in January, says Harri Koponen, Vice President, Store Network and Concept at Tokmanni.
“Our goal is to open Finland’s fourth Tokmanni-EUROSPAR store entity with diverse product range in Järvenpää in March–April,” he says.
With the EUROSPAR supermarket, Tokmanni is renewing its food departments to embrace the international SPAR brand and further expanding its grocery selections with both the SPAR brand products and other groceries. Shopping experience will also be improved by, for example, renewing store signage and shelves, as well as shelf layout and displays of products and product categories.
“To help us with this, we are utilizing the expertise of SPAR International and its grocery professionals, as well as the experience gained from the EUROSPAR supermarkets we opened in Ylöjärvi, Masku and Tornio last year,” Koponen says.
The store network of the SPAR grocery store concept will expand further in Finland this year
As previously announced, Tokmanni will continue to renew the food departments of its Tokmanni stores that already sell fresh food to embrace the international SPAR brand. Currently, Tokmanni has twenty stores that also sell fresh food*. 17 of these stores still serve their customers under the Tokmanni brand.
During early spring, EUROSPAR renovation work will also begin at the Tokmanni stores in Raatekangas in Joensuu, Vanhakylä in Loviisa, and Iisalmi. The dates of the opening celebrations in these locations will be confirmed later as the renovations progress.
“We are currently planning renovations in accordance with the EUROSPAR concept for several locations across Finland. We will be happy to share more information about them a little later, once our plans and schedules become more specific,” Koponen says.

More than 130 SPAR branded food products and other groceries are already available in all Tokmanni stores across Finland. The product range is also diverse in Tokmanni’s online store. During the current year, the range of SPAR products will continue to grow. The photo above is from the EUROSPAR supermarket that Tokmanni opened in Masku in October last year.
The range of SPAR branded products is also growing in each of the more than 200 Tokmanni stores
The SPAR product offering is at its widest in the EUROSPAR supermarkets that operate under the same roof as Tokmanni stores, i.e. in Tokmanni-EUROSPAR store entities. However, more than 130 SPAR branded food products and other groceries are already available in each of the over 200 Tokmanni stores across Finland.
In terms of food products, the SPAR product range in Tokmanni stores includes, for example, sweets, biscuits, snacks, quick oat flakes, rice, pasta, pasta and salsa sauces, instant coffee, mustard, dried fruits, canned corn and tuna, blossom honey, cold-pressed sunflower oil, vinegar, sugar, salt, extra virgin olive oil, and cat food. In addition, the SPAR product range includes, for example, liquid soap, diapers, shaving cream and deodorant.
This year, Tokmanni will expand its SPAR food product selections in particular, both in its EUROSPAR supermarkets and in all Tokmanni store across Finland. In addition to food products, other SPAR groceries will also be available for sale.
